With
two locations on the Pender Islands Kayak Pender Island offers
a number of paddling tours. Our shop at Otter Bay Marina is
a mere 10 minute walk from the B.C. Ferries terminal at Otter
Bay. The Poets Cove Resort location on South Pender Island
is beside the Canada Customs, a major marine entry point into
Canada. Both locations feature many amenities. Pender Island
is easily accessible not only by ferry but also via air (scheduled
seaplane flights land at both Port Washington and Poets
Cove Resort) and private boat. Nearby paddle destinations include
the shores of both Pender Islands, Portland and Prevost
Islands (both of which feature provincial marine parks).
Pender
Island, one of Canada's Gulf Islands, is close to: Victoria,
B.C., 40 km. (25 mi.) to the south; Vancouver, B.C., 48
km. (30 mi.) to the north-east; and Seattle, Wash. 145 km.
(90 mi.) to the south-west. Just a few miles across the Canada-US
border are the American San Juan Islands.
Lying
in the rain shadow of Washington's Olympic Mountains and the
high hills of Vancouver Island Pender Island enjoys
one of the best climates in Canada and the only Mediterranean climate
north of the San Francisco Bay area!
